Already 100 000 reservations for the 2022 Ford Maverick!

The Maverick might become the next best-selling vehicle in the Ford lineup after the F-150 since it has reached 100 000 reservations already. The price is one of the critical factors here since the compact truck starts at about 25 900$. Of course, being the cheapest isn't always the best solution, but things are different for the Maverick. First, it's a truck, second, it has some capabilities, and third, it's gorgeous. Well, there is more about the compact American truck, but the idea here is just to show you that you get a lot for what you pay for with the Maverick.

Ford could have done it better for sure, and it will probably do it later. However, for now, the American manufacturer gave the customer exactly what they wanted, which is an affordable and competent truck. Well, if you ask me, the Maverick isn't technically a "truck," and it is closer to an SUV, but it looks like a truck and can act like one, and for most people, it's more than enough.

Cheaper Than Its Competition

The 2022 Ford Maverick starts around 25 900$, and I'm talking Canadian dollars here. If you live in the good old USA, the Maverick base price is $19 995. Of course, that's for the XL version. If you want to get the XLT or even Lariat, you'll have to pay $ 28 500$ or $ 34 450$ in Canadian dollars, which is still very affordable. In fact, this makes the 2022 Ford Maverick the least expensive truck in its category and in the North American market. In addition to that, used trucks are more expensive than ever, which makes a 25 900$ brand new truck way more appealing.

How good of a truck is it?

Well, it is tough for me to give you a complete answer since I haven't driven the Maverick yet, but there are a lot of characteristics that might give you an idea of what this truck is capable of. First, it has 4.5 feet open bed, which is enough to put a stove or even a fridge in it. This is something you can't do with an SUV or car. Also, in a specific configuration, the 2022 Maverick can tow up to 4 000 pounds which is a lot for such a small vehicle. And finally, it offers a decent 4WD system. You don't need to go any further to defines it as a truck. Is it as tough as an F-150 or a Ranger? Of course not, but that's part of the whole good price thing. At the end of the day, the 2022 Ford Maverick hasn't been built to pull trees out of the ground or moving a pile of brick from a construction site to another. It is a compact and affordable utility vehicle that can accomplish more tasks than your average SUV, and that's what makes it so good.

Hybrid or regular?

The choice might not be as hard as you think to make since the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid is only available in FWD in Canada, and the non-hybrid version only comes with a 4WD system. If you drive an FWD vehicle currently, the hybrid version is the one to choose since you'll get a 5.9 L/100 km fuel consumption in town. However, if you're more in the countryside and think you might need the 4 000-pound towing capacity, the 2.0 liters 4 cylinders Ecoboost is definitely a better option with 250 hp and 277 ft-lb of torque. For the hybrid version, you get the combination of a 2.5 liters 4 cylinders, and an electric motor for a total power of 191 hp and 155 ft-lb of torque. Ford mentioned that this combination gives an 800 km range to the Maverick, which is pretty good considering it only has a 49-liter tank.

A Brilliant Future

The Ford Maverick is only available in 3 configurations: XL, XLT, and Lariat. Nevertheless, which such a huge initial popularity, you can expect Ford to offer more versions sooner than later. A more off-road-oriented version like the Tremor or even just an excellent FX4 package would be appreciated, and don't even dream about a Raptor Maverick because this will certainly never happen. A Limited and even a King Ranch version could get to the party eventually, and why not a full electric Maverick? We can only make assumptions for now, but there's more to come for the Ford Maverick for sure. The only thing we have to really hope right now is the American manufacturer will be able to deliver those 100 000 Mavericks in a reasonable amount of time. Chip shortage and other issues related to the Covid-19 thing make the market very unpredictable right now. So let's hope for the best, especially if you ordered one of those Maverick, and if you didn't, and you want one, well, do it ASAP because the number of reservations is well over 100 000 units now.
